AMAZING RACE – 11/11/12

Down to six teams…and they are headed for Russia. This is the point where I get confused….is it still Russia or are there 75 cute little Russian states instead? I guess Moscow is still in one of the big states called Russia? What the hell is going on there exactly? I just pulled up one of the maps to see how stupid I look right now and it looks like there’s still one big Russia. Or these maps I’m looking at are from 1980 because it’s no longer called Russia, so I’m Googling the wrong country. I’m totally confused. As soon as they started breaking off in little states, I bailed on the whole place. Between that and the Middle East, I have no clue what’s going on over there. Anyway, who cares. Amazing Race referred to it as Russia, so that’s what I’m going with.

Over to Lexi. I am not sure what it is about this girl. Maybe it’s just the “I’m just SO upbeat about EVERYTHING” type of personality that just … Continue reading

AMAZING RACE – 11/4/12

Week six and seven teams left. And yes, I’m still alive. Actually, we fared really well in the storm. At one point, the model was showing Sandy possibly making landfall about an hour and a half south of us. Instead, it was at least a couple of hours in the other direction. We never even lost power. Honestly, we had more trouble with Hurricane Irene last August, so I consider myself very lucky. Like everyone else, I am feeling horribly for those north of us. It’s pretty sad when the one thing left standing in Seaside Heights was that damned Jersey Shore house.

Anyway, back to the show. We are back in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Phil advises us that Dhaka has more rickshaws than any other city in the world. Awesome. Not exactly on par with having the most diamonds or anything, but hey, whatever. James and Abba were in first place last week, and they are first to leave. Apparently, the teams are headed 3,700 miles away to Istanbul, Turkey. Seriously, … Continue reading

AMAZING RACE – 10/28/12

Here we are at week five already. As some of you may remember, I’m in one of those Mid-Atlantic states (Delaware). We are getting hit pretty badly with that hurricane already, and it’s technically not even really here yet. As I am typing this, it is crazy windy and rainy outside. I am really hoping this power doesn’t go out, so I can watch this show and get the column out. Best of luck to my fellow East Coasters and everyone affected by this storm.

Anyway, I think I can take anything but multiple days without power and my kids nagging me. I think at the most we’ve only had a full 24 hours without power since we’ve had the kids. It was 100 degrees out at the time, though. They spent that whole time screaming and asking “When is the power coming back!???!! I can’t get Wi-Fi!!!!????” Good thing these guys weren’t around in 1860 or anything. Anyway, there’s a chance for even up to a week without power and I am not … Continue reading
